On Memory
Charcoal and plastic on paper, 17cm x 13cm each
The series ‘On Memory’ consisted of making a drawing for each day of my 14 day quarantine. The process involved firstly my setting up compositions with small objects or toys from my childhood combined with old printed photographs taken from family photo albums. I then drew these from life in small postcard sized drawings.
The series expands ideas of drawing in that it followed a system by making a similar drawing each day. Time is also linked with this process and not only to the objects drawn since it allowed me to achieve an understanding of time passing through making physical traces each day.
